Why I use Sinar?

After years of using my Sinar p3 camera with manual shutter lenses (CPL) I have had the opportunity of converting my system to lenses equipped with Sinar eShutter. Improved working time is really substantial. With manual shutter lenses, it is necessary to open the shutter every time we want to use the live view of the digital back, and once we have finished, close the shutter and load the mechanism for shooting.  Although it looks like a simple and natural way, it's really annoying if you have to do this hundreds of times. Mainly in food and interior photography in which we use to make many variations and do the checking in realtime.

By incorporating the Sinar eShutter our entire workflow is much faster and the customer appreciates it, since from the same computer on which we use the live view software we are able to open and close the shutter. That is great because we can avoid the need of having to touch the camera and avoid loading the shutter before each shot. In addition the remote adjustment of shutter speed and aperture with the Sinar eShutter is really fast and accurate. As a bonus, we are able to do many cool things with Sinar eShutter software such as making firing bursts, adjust if the flash must be fired before or after the shutter tripping, etc.

From the point of view of implementing the Sinar eShutter system, is quite simple. The application is installed on the computer or laptop that will control the lens, an external module is connected via USB to the computer (in the case of being outside the studio, your own laptop battery can power the external module, no extra power consumption is noticed, you are also able to use an external power adaptor as a backup). In this same external module you will be able to connect the lens and the flash wires, we use to connect one to the generator or wireless trigger (in my case Profoto Air to have less cables around but admits any flash sync pc cord) and the other to the digital back (you need for this the pc sync Sinar adapter) but this depends on your digital back.

Once everything is setup you don´t need to touch the camera to make any changes, everything is controlled remotely. It even allows you to install the application on a Apple iPad / iPhone and control the Sinar eShutter from that device which is even more portable and handy.

One of the main reasons to jump into this new system was that my previous lenses CPL could be easily converted into the new system so that the system upgrade investment is not so high and makes the Sinar eShutter a natural step for any professional photographer.
